How It Works

From setup to intelligence in 72 hours.

We built The Restaurant Index to be operational as fast as possible — because every week you operate without competitive context is a week you’re leaving decisions to instinct.

01

Step 01

Connect Your Data

The Restaurant Index integrates directly with your existing tools. Connect your POS, payroll, and reservations platform in a single onboarding session. There's no data entry, no CSV uploads, and no IT department required. Our integration engine pulls the data it needs automatically, on a continuous basis. You'll be live within 72 hours of signing up.

Supported platforms include Toast, Square, Lightspeed, Resy, OpenTable, 7shifts, Gusto, and Stripe. Additional integrations are added quarterly. If you use a system not on our list, contact us — we've built custom integrations for partners who needed them.

Step 02

We Build Your Benchmark Set

Within 48 hours of connecting your data, our engine builds your competitive benchmark set. This is not a self-reported survey pool or a generic industry average. We match you against verified operators based on your restaurant format, geographic market, average check, seating capacity, daypart mix, and service model.

The benchmark set is refreshed quarterly to account for market changes, new entrants, and closures. You can view high-level information about your peer set — size, format, market — but never identifying details. All data is anonymized and aggregated before any comparison is made.

Step 03

Surface Insights

Your dashboard launches with 14 core performance metrics, each with a percentile ranking against your competitive set. Every metric includes a plain-language explanation of what it means, why it matters, and what your ranking implies. There are no raw numbers without context — only performance in relation to your market.

Metrics update on a rolling 30-day basis, with trailing 90-day and 12-month views available. Your ranking history is preserved so you can see how your position has evolved over time. Week-over-week delta indicators show which metrics are improving and which are declining.

Step 04

Take Action

The Restaurant Index surfaces insights you can act on. Every significant change in your rankings triggers an action-oriented alert — not just a data notification, but a contextual explanation of what the change means and what operators at higher percentiles do differently.

Monthly PDF operator reports consolidate your most important metrics and insights into a format ready for partner meetings, board reviews, or lender conversations. Competitive alerts notify you when a new operator enters your market, when market pricing shifts meaningfully, or when a specific metric crosses a threshold you define.
